2nd
Season for Jackson
Walker
WE
has picked up the show for another season in the fall and an international
version of the show is on the horizon. The
show has been a huge hit for WE claiming the highest ratings of ANY
of its shows to date. They even ordered one more show for this season.
(I'm sure it all had a great deal to do with the music!)
Congratulations Jackson!

Jackson
composed all the music for the series, title theme, credits,
background, every note! The show is
captivating and enlightening
and Jackson's music brings a great deal of emotion. He poured his heart
and soul into this one.

Matt Marshak named best new artist in New York!
Well
all the hard work is paying off kiddies.
CD101.9 and Absolut Vodka came together this summer in an effort to find
the best unsigned smooth jazz artist New York had to offer in the form of
the Absolut New Artist Showcase.
In
response to the contest, the station received approximately 1,000
submissions from local musicians. After many tough decisions they sorted
the list down to 12 finalists and presented their finds to the public
during weekly showcases at Metronome in New York City.
The
competition was intense and each of the finalists had a tremendous amount
of talent. Each musician gave a top-notch performance. In the end CD101.9
and Absolut agreed that Matt was the Best New Artist.
As
the winner of the Absolut New Artist Showcase Matt will be the opening act
for CD101.9's Guitars & Saxes featuring Jeff
Golub and Richard Elliot on July 30th at 6:30 pm in Bryant Park
(42nd Street between 6th & 5th Aves). He will also be featured on the
air (music & interview) during the New Artist Show on July 27
from 9am - 10am. The concert is free, so come and check Matt out for
yourself.
Several
of the tracks sent to CD101.9 are off Matt's 2nd independent release
entitled This Time Around due out later this year. The
album features such well known musicians as Bakithi Kumalo (Paul
Simon), David Mann (Tower of Power, Michael Jackson), Ron Jenkins (Patti
Austin), Paul Ossola (GE Smith band), Carl Burnett (Branford Marsalis,
Robben Ford), and Danny Sadownic (Christian Mcbride).
The Guitars
& Saxes show will be a great opportunity to preview the
new albums material and see for
yourself
what
caught the eyes and ears of the folks at CD101.9.
